Job Description – Red Hat Linux System Administrator (RHEL 8 & 9)

Location: Dublin 18 (3 days onsite per week)

Duration: End of year with possible extension

Role Overview

We are looking for 2 x Red Hat Linux System Administrators with strong experience in RHEL 8 & 9 administration and migration projects. The ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with Leapp migrations, Linux system administration in enterprise environments, and Red Hat automation. This is a hands-on role supporting large-scale RHEL migration and infrastructure operations.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Perform RHEL 8 to RHEL 9 migrations using the Leapp Upgrade Tool.
  
• Execute both manual and automated Leapp migration processes.
  
• Administer and support enterprise Red Hat Linux environments.
  
• Build and provision Linux servers using low-level deployment methods, including Single User Mode.
  
• Troubleshoot Linux boot issues, perform system recovery, and manage GRUB configurations.
  
• Manage storage, including LVM, partition expansion, volume groups, and file systems.
  
• Develop and transition automation from Bash scripts to Ansible playbooks.
  
• Support Red Hat Satellite for patching, content management, and system lifecycle management.
  
• Provide operational support, resolving incidents and technical issues within a support desk environment.
  
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on migration and platform improvement initiatives.
  

Required Experience

• 5+ years of Linux System Administration experience.
  
• Strong experience with RHEL 8 & RHEL 9.
  
• Mandatory: Hands-on experience using the Leapp Upgrade Tool for in-place RHEL migrations.
  
• Experience executing both manual and automated Leapp migrations.
  
• Experience delivering RHEL 8 to RHEL 9 migration projects at scale.
  
• Strong VMware administration experience within enterprise environments.
  
• Experience with Ansible automation and Bash scripting.
  
• Strong knowledge of Linux boot processes, system recovery, and storage administration (LVM/XFS).
  
• Experience working in enterprise production support environments.
  

Desirable Skills

• Oracle Linux / Solaris administration.
  
• Red Hat Satellite 6.14.
  
• Microsoft Azure.
  
• Enterprise infrastructure and virtualization environments.
  

Mandatory Requirement: Candidates must have hands-on experience with the Leapp Upgrade Tool, including executing both manual and automated RHEL 8 to RHEL 9 migrations in enterprise environments. This is a non-negotiable requirement.
