Regional Safety Manager

The Role
The Transportation Safety Manager is responsible for promoting a Behavioral Based Safety culture across operations and ensuring full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. This role develops and implements safety policies, oversees onboard vehicle safety technology programs, and leads driver training, testing, and coaching initiatives. You will act primarily as the subject matter expert of Safety and DOT operations, serve as the internal and client Safety contact, and will provide leadership and oversight of all Safety Operations. We are looking for highly motivated candidate, interested in potential future growth opportunities of leading Safety across our commuter operations. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of promoting and improving Safety and efficiency of process and systems.

Responsibilities:

Promote a Behavioral Based Safety culture of achieving Zero accidents and injuries
Ensure workplace conditions are safe through routine inspection
Maintain DOT driver qualification files
Track and complete Safety and DOT compliance obligations
Support compliance audits and develop/implement corrective action plans
Instill a safety-first mentality throughout the operation
Develop and implement safety procedures and policies
Maintain compliance with Local, State and Federal regulations
Manage Safety Programming onboard vehicles, including DriveCam, Samsara, and SmartDrive
Revise, implement, and train field managers and supervisors on prevention plans and driver coaching
Create trend analyses for accidents and safety incidents and present to leadership
Develop and conduct driver testing and training programs

Qualifications

Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with riders and clients with clarity, tact and courtesy
Must be proficient with computers and Microsoft Office suite
Must be able to work various days and hours with flexibility, as required
Must be qualified to work in the United States
CDL with passenger endorsement (airbrake endorsement preferred)
Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working with passenger CDL bus operations or equivalent
Must have 2 years’ experience in Transportation Safety Management
Requires experience with DOT/FMCSA regulations as prescribed by the US Department of Transportation

Preferred Qualifications

DOT certification
SPAB certified instructor or BTW trainer

Direct experience in DriveCam, Samsara, and SmartDrive technology platform
