Remote AWS Cloud Backend & Microservices Engineer

IBM Consulting is seeking an Application Developer: AWS Cloud Backend Developer to design and build cloud-native applications using Java, Quarkus, Kafka, and AWS services in an Agile setting.

You will deliver scalable backend microservices, manage data with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, and work with Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices to ensure quality and reliability across deployments.

Develop Cloud-Native Applications: design and develop cloud-native applications and services using AWS technologies. Develop Scalable Backend Microservices: build backend microservices based on 12-factor principles and expose functionality via APIs and event interfaces (Java, Quarkus, Kafka). Build Data-Driven Solutions: implement data persistence with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. Contribute to Cloud-Native Delivery: support CI/CD, automated testing, and release management. Leverage AWS Services: develop and deploy solutions on AWS across compute, storage, and observability. Collaborate in DevOps and Agile teams: work with architecture, platform, and DevOps teams to implement best practices. Ensure Quality, Security, and Reliability: apply security, performance, observability, and code quality practices. Strong experience in Java development. Hands-on experience with Quarkus. Solid knowledge of Microservices Architecture and distributed systems. Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend integrations. Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures. Experience with relational databases, including Oracle Database and PostgreSQL. Experience with NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB. Good knowledge of AWS Cloud services and cloud-native application development. Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Experience working in Agile delivery environments. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
