About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote DevOps Engineer to join their innovative technology team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to our success from anywhere in South Africa. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure, automating deployment pipelines, and ensuring the scalability and reliability of our applications. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud platforms, CI/CD practices, and infrastructure as code. Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated application builds, testing, and deployments.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and performance.
- Automate operational tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to optimize application performance and deployment strategies.
- Implement and manage containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Ensure security best practices are integrated into the infrastructure and deployment processes.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for production systems.
- Document infrastructure designs, processes, and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a DevOps or SRE role, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure.
- Proven experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
- Experience with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and security best practices in the cloud.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, particularly in a remote setting.
