Job Overview
The Repair Machine Champion (RMC) is responsible for coordinating and executing machine shop repairs for damaged, nonconforming, and rework components. The role provides end-to-end ownership across technical scope, supplier alignment, inspection requirements, documentation, and delivery follow-up to ensure safe, compliant, and timely repair execution. It contributes to improving repair turnaround, reducing OEM dependency, and enabling cost-effective recovery of assets to support operational continuity and cost savings.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the end-to-end repair process for damaged, nonconforming, and rework components, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.
  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, component condition, and historical repair data to define repair scopes, including methods, limits, and acceptance criteria.
  • Act as the primary interface with machine shop suppliers to communicate requirements, expectations, priorities, inspections, and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate with R&M, Engineering, Quality Control, Operations, and Supply Chain to align repair execution, documentation, logistics, and system updates.
  • Ensure repaired components are inspected and validated against scope requirements, including dimensional, visual, and NDE inspections where applicable.
  • Maintain repair trackers, monitor progress, identify risks or delays, and provide status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Support logistics coordination for movement of tools, components, and repaired items to meet operational needs.
  • Identify failure trends, supplier performance gaps, and improvement opportunities to enhance quality, cycle time, and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate with global stakeholders to provide accurate repair data, cost impacts, and alignment with the Global Repair Catalog.
  • Collaborate with other Repair Machine Champions to share best practices and support development of repair capabilities.
Skills
  • Strong technical capability in repair assessment, scope definition, and machine shop repair methods.
  • Knowledge of machining processes, including turning, grinding, milling, welding, cladding, and surface restoration.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, dimensional requirements, material specifications, and quality acceptance criteria.
  • Understanding of quality control, quality assurance, NCR management, inspection planning, and release requirements.
  • Supplier management, negotiation, follow-up, and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Attention to quality, compliance, documentation accuracy, and traceability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with clear ownership and escalation discipline.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with timely risk escalation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with ERP, NCR, and repair tracking tools.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5–8 years of experience in repair, manufacturing, machine shop operations, R&M, quality, or technical support within drilling tools or oilfield equipment.
  • Experience in drilling services, R&M, quality, manufacturing, or supplier repair management environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of inspection methods, including dimensional, visual, and NDE, and repair validation practices.
  • Experience with supplier qualification, performance monitoring, audits, and repair capability development preferred.
  • Awareness of ISO, API, engineering, quality, and HSE standards relevant to repair and manufacturing.
