Designation offered: Research Intern

Team/ Focus area: Technology Futures/ Value addition in Critical and Strategic Minerals

Reporting to: Research Analyst

Location: New Delhi, India

Duration: 3 months


Project Title - Identifying opportunities for India to increase domestic value addition in the critical mineral value chain for exploration, mining, and processing of minerals.

Responsibilities

Research and analysis

· Conduct technology-based research on existing and emerging mineral exploration, mining, and processing technologies and methods.

· Examine the costs of mineral exploration, mining, and processing.

· Compile information on the infrastructure and skills required for efficient mineral extraction and processing.

· Gather data on the electricity (power requirements) for mining and processing operations.

· Analysing existing literature, reports, and data from publicly available sources such as the Indian Bureau of Mines, Geological Surveys of various countries such as the GSI, USGS, and BGS, and Think Tanks to extract valuable insights that highlight policy implications of identified gaps/ promising areas related to the supply chain dynamics of these minerals.

Software and Tools Required: Fundamental knowledge and experience with basic computer software, including Microsoft 365.

Programme Assistance

· Assist with programme structuring and project implementation, including preparing presentations, factsheets and other communication material.

· Contribute to reports and other research products as part of the research team.

· Accompany team members for meetings with other stakeholders; prepare minutes of the meetings and assist with relevant follow-up.

· Assist in organising webinars, workshops and roundtables as part of the team’s outreach activities.

Selection Criteria


Qualification


Recently passed or currently pursuing a Bachelor's/Master's degree with specialisation in Metallurgy/ Mining/ Chemical Engineering or related programmes. Candidates in other fields such as pure science, public policy, or related fields with 0 – 1 year of relevant research experience may also be considered.


Compensation


Competitive compensation – commensurate to the experience and matching the best of standards adopted by the industry or other similar organisations for similar roles.
