Resident Engineer

Hill International is seeking a Resident Engineer in South, Central, and North Jersey. This position is open to collect resumes in anticipation of upcoming work.

  • Administer the construction contract and review work for compliance with all governing specifications.
  • Review work progress for compliance with the contract documents.
  • Proactively review the contract documents to anticipate, identify, and/or prepare change orders needed to resolve conflicts and/or recommend improvements.
  • Ensure job site safety by observing contractor operations and traffic conditions, making recommendations, and taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Perform field inspections of contractor’s work to determine compliance with plans, specifications, special provisions, and utility agreements.
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate and complete project records.
  • Calculate and document field quantities for payment purposes.
  • Document as-built condition of constructed facility.
  • Prepare contract change orders for making alterations, deviations, additions to, or deletions from the plans and specifications to ensure proper completion and construction.
  • Review CPM schedule and identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Complete a daily diary of pertinent activities and discussions held regarding the progress of the contractor’s work and interaction with the Senior Construction Manager.
  • Assist in the resolution and response to contractor disputes in a timely manner.
  • Prepare draft claim reports when required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management of heavy civil engineering projects.
  • Approximately 5 years of supervisory experience in the management of heavy civil infrastructure construction.
  • Experience as a Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, or Project Manager on rail projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer and/or Certified Construction Manager, preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000. The salary offered will be based on the applicant’s qualifications, education, experience and work location.
