DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

· Make complete rounds and check condition of assigned patients to ensure maximum care and to determine need for additional or modified services.
· Notify Charge Nurse of changes in patient census so staffing can be adjusted accordingly.
· Provide basic nursing care to the medical-surgical and ER patients.
· Maintain adequate records reflecting patient condition, medications, and treatments.
· Recommend process improvements for increased efficienciesMonitor and adjust specialized equipment utilized on patients.
· Initiate and assist with proper patient and family education concerning diagnosis, medical management, medications, activity, discharge plans and home care taking into consideration the patient’s ability to learn and the patient’s available resources.
· Act as patient and family advocate and liaison between medical staff and the patient and family.
· Recommend process improvements for increased efficiencies

· Display and promote company values

· Regular attendance

· Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

· Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

· Have a current license as a registered nurse issued by the State of Iowa or is eligible for reciprocity or has a work permit issued by the State of Iowa

· ACLS certified or willingness to complete within 1 year

· PALS preferred
