RN - Medical Surgical Unit

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to assigned patients, supports safe clinical outcomes, educates patients and families, maintains accurate documentation, and collaborates with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team. The RN follows provider orders, hospital policies, infection control practices, and confidentiality requirements while delivering care in a clinical environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including admissions, transfers, discharges, medications, treatments, and ongoing assessment.
  • Implement provider orders and communicate changes in patient condition to appropriate nursing and medical staff.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation, update care plans, and evaluate patient response to care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding illness, treatment plans, discharge plans, and health care instructions.
  • Promote patient privacy, confidentiality, safety, infection prevention, and compliance with hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated patient care.
  • Float to other departments as needed based on patient care needs after appropriate orientation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in the State of Washington.
  • Current BLS certification, maintained throughout employment.
  • ACLS and PALS certification within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Previous hospital experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: This position is performed primarily in a clinical environment and requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push or pull over 50 pounds, and frequently bend, twist, squat, reach, sit, stand, and walk. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
