This position will coordinate the care of the surgical patient (children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) pre-operatively. Duties include but are not limited to the pre-surgery interview with patient/guardian, pre-procedural patient preparation/scheduling (labs, x-rays, cardiac evaluation and any other pertinent testing. Provide patient education pre/post as well as overall pre-procedural coordination of care. Secures all required chart documents prior to admission to the hospital to ensure a seamless surgical admission.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Medication reconciliation.
- Collaborates with other healthcare teams to ensure all required documentation is collected prior to the surgical patient's admission to the hospital.
- Coordinates direct/indirect care of the patient meeting/interview.
- Communicates appropriate findings to appropriate healthcare team member (Physician, CRNA, and Nursing) from patient interview/diagnostic testing as appropriate for readjustment of the patient plan of care/admission to hospital.
- Documents findings/results in Surginet or current computer system.
- Arranges translation for non-English speaking patients.
Requirements of this position include:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 2-4 years perioperative nursing experience preferred
- Able to effectively communicate with care team, patient and family members
- Proficient in Surginet computer system preferred
- Current RN license to practice in the State of Wisconsin upon hire; BLS Certification
