Robotics Software Engineer

Summary

Build production software for autonomous systems, integrating robotics, AI, sensing, and cloud infrastructure in a multidisciplinary team.

Salary: $160k to $180k + super

We’re looking for experienced Software Engineers who enjoy solving difficult technical problems and building systems that perform reliably out in the field.

This role is ideal for engineers who like working across disciplines. Depending on your background, you might specialise in machine learning, robotics, computer vision, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, embedded software, scientific computing, or full-stack development. What matters most is strong engineering fundamentals, sound technical judgement, and the ability to build software that performs in complex real-world environments.

You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team developing advanced autonomous systems that combine robotics, sensing, machine learning, software, and intelligent automation.

About You: You’re someone who enjoys understanding how complex systems work and turning difficult technical problems into elegant software solutions.

What You’ll Be Working On
  • Designing and building production-quality software for complex autonomous systems
  • Solving challenging engineering problems across robotics, sensing, AI, data processing, and distributed software
  • Developing scalable software that integrates hardware, algorithms, cloud infrastructure, and user-facing applications
  • Building robust, maintainable systems that operate reliably in demanding environments
  • Debugging complex system behaviour across software, hardware, networking, data, and performance layers
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative technology from concept through deployment
  • Contributing to architecture, testing, code quality, automation, and engineering best practices

You’ll likely bring strong experience in one or more of the following:
  • Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence
  • Computer Vision or Image Processing
  • Robotics or Autonomous Systems
  • Scientific Computing or Applied Mathematics
  • Distributed Systems or Cloud Infrastructure
  • Real-Time Software
  • Embedded Software
  • Data Platforms or Backend Engineering
  • Full-Stack Product Development
Just as importantly, you’ll have:
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn across multiple engineering disciplines
  • A pragmatic approach to building reliable production software
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
Technical Environment

Experience with some of the following would be valuable:
  • Python
  • C++
  • TypeScript
  • Linux
  • Cloud platforms
  • Containers and Kubernetes
  • CI/CD and modern software engineering practices
  • Machine Learning and Computer Vision frameworks
  • Robotics, automation, or sensing technologies
Why Join?

You’ll join a highly collaborative engineering team working on genuinely difficult technical challenges where software, hardware, AI, robotics, and intelligent systems come together.

This is an opportunity to work on products that push the boundaries of modern engineering while solving meaningful real-world problems alongside some of Australia’s best engineers.
