SAFETY COORDINATOR

Job Summary

Support project teams to maintain safe construction sites by ensuring compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, company policies, and client requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) activities at construction project sites to ensure regulatory compliance and safety standards.
  • Conduct daily site safety inspections to identify unsafe acts and conditions, and initiate corrective measures.
  • Ensure adherence to WSH Act, Regulations, Code of Practice, and company safety procedures across all project activities.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive safety documentation, including Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Permit-to-Work (PTW) records.
  • Lead toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and induction training sessions for new workers to promote safety awareness.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; analyze causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor workers’ compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and safe work practices on site.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and government authorities on all safety-related matters.
  • Assist in WSH inspections and audits conducted by clients and regulatory authorities to maintain compliance.
  • Oversee site housekeeping to ensure a safe and tidy workplace environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, and statutory documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Support the WSH Officer/Manager in implementing company-wide safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

Required competencies and certifications

  • Nitec or Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health or related discipline.
  • Registered WSH Safety Coordinator with Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with Singapore WSH legislation and construction safety requirements.

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Certification as Work at Height Assessor or Supervisor.
  • Certification as Confined Space Assessor or Supervisor.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience with BizSafe and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience in fire protection, M&E, or ACMV projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
