Functional roles and responsibilities

  • To ensure adherence to safety standards on all sites as per regulations, clients' requirements, and company safety policy so as to create a safe working environment.
  • Inspect the site during the establishment phase and indicate all the safety equipment that will be needed before commencement of works.
  • Regularly inspect site for adherence to safety standards as specified by the government authorities, ATS, and specific project safety plan.
  • Prepare site and equipment safety maintenance schedule and ensure its adherence.
  • Ensure that fire regulations are adhered to and every possible precaution is taken to enable quick action when required.
  • Inspect and ensure that workmen are equipped with the necessary PPE specific to each type of work carried out on site (e.g., goggles for welders, safety helmets, harness for scaffolding workers, etc.).
  • Conduct periodic safety audit on site and send weekly report to HSE engineer and project engineer.
  • Prepare accident report highlighting cause of accident, propose corrective action, and implement to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify unsafe practices on site, prepare necessary nonconformity reports, record the same, and follow up for corrective action.
  • Conduct regular tool box talks and maintain records.
  • Impart training and awareness amongst all site staff and subcontractors in safety and first aid guidelines.
  • Participate in management/client safety meetings when required.

Education/certification and continued education

Diploma/certification in construction safety engineering or any equivalent vocational safety certification.

Years of experience

1-3 years experience as a safety officer in construction/interior fit out/manufacturing.
