As a Sales Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor and strategic partner to regional sales teams, distributors, and customers. This highly visible role combines technical expertise, sales support, and territory development to help drive revenue growth and strengthen customer relationships.

How You'll Make an Impact
Technical Sales Support & Territory Development
- Provide strategic technical support to regional sales objectives while executing direction established by the Regional Sales Manager.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on Okuma products and applications, supporting complex and high-value sales opportunities.
- Partner with Territory Sales staff and distributors to develop and execute territory growth strategies.
- Analyze market and territory data to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities while recommending data-driven action plans.
Customer Engagement & Sales Enablement
- Develop executive-level customer relationships and support distributor sales efforts throughout the territory.
- Assess customer manufacturing requirements and recommend appropriate machine tool solutions.
- Play a dependable role in major sales events, customer visits, demonstrations, and presentations, representing Okuma in both sales and technical capacities.
- Promote, coordinate, and support sales blitzes while sharing best practices across the region.
Training & Technical Expertise
- Deliver advanced technical and applications training for distributor sales teams and key customers.
- Provide advanced phone, email, and on-site technical support to Territory Sales staff and distributors.
- Support machine tool specifications, application recommendations, and quoting strategies.
- Communicate Okuma's technical advantages and manufacturing solutions with confidence and credibility.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with internal departments to develop solutions that maximize revenue, customer satisfaction, and long-term business success.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure customer requirements are addressed effectively and efficiently.
- Contribute ideas and recommendations that improve sales effectiveness, customer experience, and internal processes.
Performance & Compliance
- Consistently achieve or exceed monthly unit, revenue, and market share objectives as outlined in the Sales Incentive Plan.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and workplace safety practices.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve sales processes, tools, and customer experiences.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related technical field required.
Experience
- Five (5) or more years of experience in technical engineering, manufacturing, applications engineering, or technical sales, preferably within the machine tool or advanced manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated success supporting complex sales cycles and high-value customer engagements.
- Experience working with CNC machine tools and manufacturing processes preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical aptitude and understanding of advanced manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of machine tool terminology, applications, and technologies, including lathes, mills, and CNC controls.
- Ability to develop machine specifications and influence technical quoting strategies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to present technical information to groups and executive audiences.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex initiatives with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong relationship-building and customer-facing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Technical and product knowledge across CNC machine tool platforms is highly desirable.
Travel Requirement: Approximately 75% travel within the assigned territory to support distributors, customers, sales activities, and company events.
