What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like:
The Sales Manager plays a key role in driving group and corporate business while representing The Westgate Hotel's commitment to luxury hospitality and exceptional service. This position is responsible for prospecting and developing new business, managing existing client relationships, negotiating and contracting group business, and ensuring a smooth transition from sales to operations.
The Sales Manager will work closely with Revenue Management, Conference Services, Events, Front Office, Catering, Accounting, and other hotel departments to ensure client expectations are clearly communicated and successfully delivered. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting sales and revenue objectives.
The ideal candidate is a proactive and results-oriented hospitality professional with a strong understanding of the hotel sales process, a passion for relationship building, and the ability to identify and capitalize on local and regional business opportunities.
What We’re Looking For:
- Develop, solicit, negotiate, and contract group and corporate business to achieve established room night, revenue, and profit goals while consistently pursuing new business opportunities.
• Prospect new accounts and cultivate existing relationships through cold calls, networking, tradeshows, referrals, industry events, and professional organizations to drive repeat and incremental business.
• Respond to group leads and RFPs promptly and professionally; prepare proposals, presentations, contracts, addendums, and related client correspondence in accordance with hotel policies.
• Conduct site inspections, client presentations, pre-convention meetings, and client events to showcase The Westgate Hotel and ensure expectations are clearly understood and met.
• Develop and execute sales strategies to maximize occupancy and revenue during need periods while maintaining a strong understanding of local and regional markets, competitors, and industry trends.
• Maintain accurate group blocks, rates, concessions, billing instructions, deposits, payment schedules, and other booking details within hotel systems.
• Monitor group pickup, wash, attrition, cancellations, and payment requirements, partnering with Revenue Management to optimize pricing, availability, and revenue.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date client profiles, traces, correspondence, booking information, and sales records within CRM and hotel systems.
• Prepare and distribute accurate group resumes and event information, ensuring client expectations, special requests, and program changes are communicated clearly and timely.
• Partner closely with Conference Services, Event Management, Front Office, Catering, Accounting, Revenue Management, and other departments to ensure a seamless transition from sales to operations.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients throughout the pre-event process, proactively addressing concerns and maintaining strong relationships to support satisfaction and retention.
• Complete required sales reports, forecasts, audits, documentation, and follow-up while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Partner with Marketing and participate in trade shows, networking events, community activities, and industry organizations to strengthen relationships and generate business.
• Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and a commitment to The Westgate Hotel’s luxury service standards while serving as a positive role model for the team.
• Attend daily and weekly meetings, training sessions, and departmental initiatives as required, and perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Minimum of 3 years of hotel sales, catering, and/or revenue experience required.
- Previous experience in hotel group sales, catering, conference services, or a related hospitality sales environment preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with Opera PMS required.
- Proficiency with Lanyon, Opera, and DelphiFDC preferred.
- Refined verbal, written, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong sales, prospecting, relationship-building, and business development abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of hotel operations, group business, revenue management, and the sales process.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a variety of hotel departments.
- Professional presence and communication style consistent with luxury hospitality standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-oriented when addressing client concerns.
- Community involvement and/or participation in professional hospitality associations is highly regarded.
- General computer proficiency and ability to learn and effectively utilize hotel systems and technology.
- Flexibility to attend client meetings, networking events, trade shows, industry functions, and hotel events based on business needs.
- Ability to represent The Westgate Hotel professionally and build strong relationships with clients, guests, vendors, and industry partners.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift, including during site inspections, client meetings, functions, and hotel events.
