Join a mission-driven technology team developing and maintaining secure, cloud-based solutions that support critical U.S. Army recruiting and personnel accession operations.
As a Salesforce Developer I, you will contribute to an enterprise platform designed to modernize recruiting workflows, streamline applicant processing, and improve operational efficiency.
You will focus on building reliable Salesforce solutions using declarative tools and standard platform functionality, applying custom development when necessary.
Working in a highly secure, compliance-driven environment, you will collaborate with architects, technical leads, DevSecOps engineers, testers, and government stakeholders.
This role offers an opportunity to strengthen your Salesforce expertise while contributing to a large-scale federal technology program.
You will help ensure platform security, data integrity, maintainability, and performance through disciplined development and documentation practices.
This is a fully remote, U.S.-based contract opportunity requiring eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
Accountabilities
- Salesforce Configuration and Development: Build, configure, and maintain Salesforce functionality using Flows, Validation Rules, Record Types, Page Layouts, and Lightning App Builder, prioritizing out-of-the-box capabilities before introducing custom code.
- Custom Development: Implement, troubleshoot, and extend Apex and Lightning Web Components (LWC) when standard Salesforce functionality cannot meet business requirements, following secure coding standards.
- Integration Support: Develop and maintain integrations using Salesforce-native tools and REST/SOAP APIs, ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant data exchanges.
- Data Management and Security: Maintain the Salesforce data model, permissions, sharing configurations, and field-level security to protect sensitive information and support appropriate access controls.
- Code Quality and Governance: Participate in configuration and code reviews, enforce naming conventions and documentation standards, and maintain consistent version-control practices.
- DevSecOps and Deployment: Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment preparation, metadata integrity, version control, and release coordination across multiple Salesforce environments.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Investigate technical issues, perform root-cause analysis, resolve defects, and support continuous platform improvement.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain audit-ready documentation, including flow diagrams, change logs, deployment notes, and configuration records.
- Agile Collaboration: Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and other team ceremonies, provide realistic delivery estimates, and recommend practical solutions aligned with platform capabilities.
- Platform Evolution: Stay informed about Salesforce seasonal releases and new features to identify opportunities for secure, efficient, and maintainable improvements.
Requirements
- Professional Experience: At least 3 years of Salesforce development or configuration experience, ideally supporting Department of Defense, federal government, or other regulated environments.
- Declarative Salesforce Expertise: Hands-on experience with Salesforce Flows, automation, validation rules, layouts, record types, and security configurations.
- Custom Development Knowledge: Familiarity with Apex and Lightning Web Components, including the ability to debug, modify, and extend existing custom logic when required.
- Security and Compliance: Understanding of secure software development practices, environment governance, access controls, and compliance requirements in enterprise or government settings.
- Integration Experience: Familiarity with Salesforce integrations, APIs, and secure data exchange practices.
- Development Lifecycle Tools: Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) for work management, pipelines, and deployment coordination.
- Technical Adaptability: Ability to evaluate business requirements and identify when declarative tools are preferable to custom development.
- Communication and Collaboration: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with technical teams and government stakeholders in a structured environment.
- Work Authorization and Clearance: Must be based in the United States, authorized to work in the country, and eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications:
- Salesforce Platform Developer I, Platform Application Developer, or Salesforce Platform Administrator certification.
- Previous experience in Department of Defense IL4 or IL5 environments.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and metadata deployments.
- Experience working across multiple Salesforce environments.
- Exposure to Salesforce OmniStudio, including OmniScripts, DataRaptors, Integration Procedures, and FlexCards, or comparable declarative frameworks.
Benefits
- Annual salary: $135,000–$140,000, depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
- Remote work: Fully remote position for candidates based in the United States.
- Contract opportunity: Contribute to a mission-critical federal technology program supporting U.S. Army recruiting operations.
- Professional development: Gain experience with enterprise Salesforce architecture, secure cloud platforms, and government technology requirements.
- Technical collaboration: Work alongside experienced technical leads, architects, DevSecOps specialists, and testing professionals.
- Career growth: Strengthen your expertise in Salesforce configuration, integrations, security, and deployment practices.
