Sanitation Manager
Description
A Little About:
Oats Overnight is on a mission to build a generational CPG brand. Since 2016, our high-protein, drinkable oatmeal has reached over a million customers through direct-to-consumer, and we’re now scaling with all major nationwide retail and club partners. Our goal: become a household brand by leveraging speed, storytelling, and strategy.
We are vertically integrated: we develop, manufacture, and fulfill everything in-house. This operational control allows us to engage customers directly into the R&D process, an initiative where we were first-to-market in CPG. It also makes our brand tangible and real: our factory, our team, and our product pipeline are all part of the narrative.
This is an exciting stage - we are emerging as a significant omni-channel brand and launching new products to capture significant market share across verticals. We want you to help us get there.
Every teammate here has equity because we’re building something big, and everyone plays an important role. If you’re excited about building a brand that does things differently, this is that opportunity.
What’s The Job
As our Sanitation Manager, you’ll run sanitation at our Ohio plant: the team, the schedule, the procedures, and the audit records. When a line comes down for cleaning, you ensure whether it’s actually clean. We’re adding lines in Ohio, so you’ll also be writing sanitation plans for equipment that hasn’t been installed yet.
What You’ll Be Doing, Stop Scanning and Read This Part
You own:
- The team. 2 supervisors and their crews across 3 shifts. You hire, train, coach, and handle the hard conversations.
- SSOPs for every processing area. You write them with QA, Operations, and Maintenance. A new hire should be able to follow them, and they should hold up in an audit.
- The master sanitation schedule. You engage with quality, operations and maintenance to develop a plan for everything- the building, the lines and grounds. Both the predictable and the unpredictable.
- Sanitation windows. Each line gets cleaned and verified in the time it’s given. Finishing early doesn’t count if the swab tests fail.
- Vendors. Housekeeping, laundry, pest control, and chemical suppliers all come to you. Day to day, you will:
- Sit on the plant food safety (HACCP) team.
- Run non-conformances from the first report through corrective action. You can stop production or put a product on hold when conditions aren’t right, and you document it.
- Get sanitation ready for new lines and products. That means planning, validating, and signing off before the first run.
- Be our sanitation expert in SQF, regulatory, and customer audits.
- Follow the swab data (ATP and allergen), spot trends, and dig into failures until you find the cause. ● Manage chemical, supply, and labor spend.
- Keep chemical handling and lockout/tagout tight, and investigate incidents.
What You’ve Done and Who You Are

- 5+ years in food plant sanitation, with at least 2 in dry sanitation [and wet sanitation or CIP experience: confirm].

Nice to have:
- Certified sanitarian.
- Experience qualifying sanitation for new equipment or lines.
You’re someone who:
- Works without being told what’s next.
- You think on your feet and can adapt quickly to changes.
- Writes SSOPs that people actually use.
- Trains well and knows how to hand off work.
- Can get Operations, Maintenance, and QA moving, even when priorities shift a lot. ● Communicates clearly. Your reports get read.
