SAP S/4HANA Finance / FICO Architect – Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical and functional leadership for SAP FICO implementation, transformation, and support programs, coordinating onshore, offshore, and nearshore teams.
Act as a subject matter expert for Joint Venture Accounting (JVA) and Advanced Financial Closing (AFC), providing guidance on design, configuration, and business processes.
Lead the design and integration of Treasury and Banking solutions, including Multi Bank Connector (MBC) and Bank Communication Management (BCM).
Oversee SAP Finance processes covering General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Cash Management, and Financial Reporting.
Ensure SAP Finance solutions support local and statutory tax requirements, including VAT, GST, Withholding Tax (WHT), and country-specific compliance.
Drive Controlling solutions covering Cost Element Accounting (CEA), Cost Center Accounting (CCA), Profit Center Accounting (PCA), Internal Orders (IO), and overhead allocation and settlement processes.
Provide functional oversight for Asset Accounting, Real Estate Management, Contract Management, and Leasing processes.
Manage integration and business processes involving Project System (PS) and Time Writing/Time Recording across different countries and operating models.
Design and maintain SAP Substitution and Validation rules, including configuration and optimization of BRF+ applications.
Review and improve SAP workflows, background jobs, and finance-related scheduling processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Lead integration of SAP S/4HANA Finance with external and third-party platforms, including Concur, Uber, Bright Logistics, Serraview, ServiceNow (SNOW), Unifier, Reuters, Vertex, SuccessFactors, BlackLine, Datam8, and other enterprise applications.
Analyze and implement custom finance processes based on specific business and client requirements.
Ensure effective integration between SAP FICO and other SAP/business platforms, including C&P, HR, Logistics, EAM, Group Reporting/Consolidation, CPI, and SuccessFactors.
Take ownership of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing activities, ensuring processes are completed accurately and within agreed timelines.
Define finance architecture standards, review solution designs, and ensure alignment with SAP best practices and enterprise architecture principles.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and leadership to resolve complex Finance-related issues and deliver sustainable solutions.
Technical & Functional Expertise
10+ years of hands-on experience working with SAP Finance/FICO.
Demonstrated experience in SAP Finance architecture, solution design, and technical/functional leadership.
Strong hands-on expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance and large-scale Finance transformation programs.
Comprehensive understanding of SAP FICO configuration, architecture, integration, and cross-module dependencies.
Strong functional knowledge of SAP Treasury, Banking, Cash Management, and Taxation.
Hands-on experience with BRF+, Substitution, Validation, Workflow, and Finance automation processes.
Experience designing and supporting interfaces between SAP and third-party enterprise applications.
Proven ability to manage global SAP delivery teams supporting multi-country implementations and operations.
SAP certification in S/4HANA Finance, SAP Finance, or Treasury is preferred.
Practical experience with SAP Group Reporting and/or Consolidation.
Exposure to RISE with SAP, SAP cloud solutions, or cloud-based S/4HANA deployments.
Strong understanding of global Finance processes, statutory requirements, and country-specific financial configurations.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Finance, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
A Master’s degree and/or relevant SAP professional certifications will be considered an advantage.
