Program Description:
The Community School strategy is an approach to education that addresses the needs of students, families, and communities by providing a wide range of offerings and supports in and outside of school.
The Office of Community Schools mission is to create and sustain school and community based organizations partnerships through intentional collaborative leadership that empower students, families, and communities to thrive. Graham’s Community School team partners collaboratively with schools to create welcoming, supportive environments that support the whole child and promote academic success, as well as social and emotional well-being. In Community Schools, parents are real and active partners in their children’s education, the school climate is joyful and positive, expanded learning opportunities are standard.
Community schools are based on four core evidence-based features: collaborative leadership and practice, family and community engagement, wellness and integrated student supports and expanded learning time.
The School Based Mental Health Supervisor delivers mental health services and supports to students, and supports parents, school staff and other professionals supporting students and provides clinical supervision to School Based Clinician and Interns.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plans and provides individual and/or group therapy consistent with the needs of the students including carrying a specific caseload
- Responds to student crises and provides de-escalation and support
- Provides direct clinical supervision of School Based Clinician and Interns
- Develops strong relationships with the Community School team, the Graham Beacon team, guidance counselor, teachers, parents and students
- Collaborates with school staff, parents and other professionals to plan and implement interventions and strategies to improve social, emotional and/or social skills for specific students
- Creates and facilitates professional development opportunities for the school staff.
- Maintains open communication with teachers and guidance counselor and attends school meetings as scheduled
- Provides complete and timely documentation to support services delivered
- Ensures compliance with licensure, contract and private foundations requirements
