Do you want to help build some of the largest and most consequential enterprise and customer technology systems in the world? Join Apple’s Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization. IS&T is the engine behind everything Apple does for customers and for the people who build for them. It’s Apple’s central nervous system. Supporting 2.5 billion active Apple devices, processing billions of secure transactions, and keeping the technology that defines modern life running flawlessly, IS&T makes the impossible feel effortless.

Do you love building solutions to handle global complexity and immense scale? Imagine what you could do here.

As a Quality Engineering Manager, you will lead a Hyderabad-based SDET team building scalable automation frameworks and horizontal tooling. In close partnership with QE leadership and engineering stakeholders in California, you will execute against shared objectives, improve CI signal quality, and drive measurable gains in automation reliability and adoption through disciplined planning and effective cross-timezone collaboration.

Retail and Marcom Engineering, an IS&T team, builds and operates the systems and experiences that connect Apple's products with its customers. The team owns the technology behind both Apple's online and physical stores and drives the interactive marketing experiences and tools that keep creative operations moving. Together, those functions deliver the technology behind every product story Apple tells and every purchase a customer makes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • People management experience leading engineers (or strong technical/team lead experience with direct ownership of mentoring and delivery).
  • Strong programming foundation with the ability to understand and review production-quality automation code in Node.js or TypeScript.
  • Experience with automated testing principles and building/maintaining test frameworks for web, API, and/or native applications.
  • Experience designing and executing automated validation (unit, integration, end-to-end) within CI/CD workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with geographically distributed partners.
  • Experience working with or managing external vendor or agency partners, including setting expectations, reviewing deliverables, and holding teams accountable to quality and schedule commitments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading teams that build and operate automation frameworks or horizontal quality platforms used by multiple product teams, with demonstrated adoption and reliability at scale.
  • Proven ability to set technical direction for test frameworks and CI signal quality, including reducing flakiness, improving signal-to-noise, and accelerating feedback loops.
  • Track record of driving developer adoption through clear APIs, documentation, enablement, and partnership with engineering and release stakeholders.
  • Strong cross-functional influence to align quality strategy with engineering teams and integrate shared tooling into CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience managing geographically distributed teams, including satellite office leadership and follow-the-sun operating models, with strong async-first communication habits, crisp handoffs, and clear escalation paths.
  • Familiarity with modern test automation frameworks and tooling ecosystems (e.g., web, API, and native automation) to effectively guide architecture and code review standards.
  • Ability to structure and communicate clear work intake, prioritization signals, and delivery expectations across both FTE and vendor work streams operating in parallel.
  • Experience managing a mixed workforce model — including direct reports and vendor or agency partners (staffing agencies, managed service providers) — with demonstrated ability to onboard, set performance expectations, manage SLAs, and maintain consistent quality standards across both work streams.
