Role Overview

The Sector Expert (Civil) will be responsible for providing technical expertise, supervision, and quality assurance in civil engineering works, particularly in railway and highway infrastructure projects. The role involves on-site execution, monitoring, and coordination with project stakeholders to ensure adherence to project timelines, safety norms, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Oversee and supervise civil works at site, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, designs, and technical specifications.

· Conduct surveys, measurements, and alignment checks using Total Station and related survey equipment.

· Prepare and review civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD; provide necessary inputs for design modifications.

· Ensure adherence to construction methodologies, safety protocols, and quality assurance practices.

· Monitor progress of works, prepare daily/weekly site reports, and escalate issues requiring resolution.

· Liaise with contractors, consultants, and client representatives to resolve site-related technical issues.

· Assist in project documentation, measurement verification, and billing support as required.

· Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and site supervisors.


Qualification

· Diploma in Civil Engineering (mandatory)

· Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.



Requirements

Experience Requirements

· Total Professional Experience:

For Diploma holders: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.

For Degree holders: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

· Relevant Experience (any one of the following):

At least 3 years in Railway/Highway projects with a PMC (Project Management Consultant) or Construction Agency.

At least 3 years in Railways as SSE/W (In-charge) or above, with direct site experience in construction.

Key Skills & Competencies

· Proficiency in Total Station survey equipment for alignment, leveling, and setting out.

· Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD for drawings and site modifications.

· Good understanding of site management, construction methods, and quality control practices.

· Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOQs, and project specifications.

Soft Skills

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Problem-solving and decision-making abilities in site-related challenges.

· Team player with leadership qualities to manage site teams effectively.

· Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).

· Willingness to work at project sites and in field conditions.
