Security Analyst - Level 1
Summary
The Security Analyst monitors and analyzes client network and system activity to detect and respond to cybersecurity incidents. The role involves triaging alerts, developing security procedures, and utilizing tools like SIEM, EDR, and SOAR.
Salary: $30 – $45 per hour
The eir evo Security Team is responsible for protecting and monitoring our clients' organisations. We provide 24x7x365 capabilities to protect, detect, analyse, and respond to cybersecurity incidents using a combination of technology solutions and a strong set of processes. This is a significant, established team based in Ireland and New Zealand supporting a range of enterprise client organisations.
The SOC staff work closely with our customer and eir evo Network Operation Centre (NOC) team to ensure security issues are addressed quickly upon discovery.
The Cyber Security Analyst monitors and analyses activity on networks, servers, endpoints, databases, applications, websites, and other critical systems, looking for anomalous activity that could be indicative of a security incident or compromise.
This is a contract position based in our Auckland office for a period of 1 year for maternity cover.
Responsibilities:
Continuously monitors the customers security infrastructure via SIEM, EDR, SOAR etc
Triage security alerts,
Triage data source monitoring alerts,
Proposition of specific recommendations to alerts,
Collects data and context necessary to initiate Level 2 escalation,
Provide feedback to Level 2 for fine-tuning of detection use cases,
Develop runbooks/procedures for handling of security monitoring alerts,
Deliver scheduled and ad-hoc reports
Work closely with Level 2 & Level 3 team towards the continuous improvement of the service
Experience/Qualifications:
Bachelor/master’s degree in cyber security or demonstrated interest in the Cyber Security domain
Relevant training in System Administration, Networking, and/or Security.
Certifications preferred for the equivalent of CompTIA Security+ and Network+
Preferred experience in key technologies like Palo Alto Cortex XSOAR and/or IBM Qradar.
English: fluent spoken & written (mandatory)
Ability to demonstrate a foundational knowledge of IP networking, Routing & Switching, System Administration, and Information Security
Strong analytical, critical observation skills
Willing to follow SOC processes and procedures while maintaining the flexibility to “think outside the box”
Collaborative and team player
Ability to prioritize tasks
Work Conditions:
Work hours will be a regular 5 day work week of 7.5 hours per day during regular business hours. Out of hours and on call support as required.
Our company has an agile work policy where engineers can opt to work 2 to 3 days per week from home.
Office based in Grafton, Auckland.
