Security Assessor

Our client, a Canberra based private consultancy, require the services of a Security Assessor.
Working under the guidance of senior team members, you will prepare system security plans, control mappings, and support IT audits aligned with the Information Security Manual. Your role includes translating technical inputs into Defence-ready artefacts and maintaining evidence traceability to Defence Security Principles Framework requirements.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Security Assessor:
- Produce components of the security and technical assurance documentation required to pass the Assessment and Authorisation process, working to templates and direction provided by the Lead Security Assessor;
- Support internal IT audits and IRAP-aligned assessment activities, including evidence collection and control testing under supervision;
- Prepare draft system security documentation, including system security plans and control mappings, for systems in scope, for review and quality assurance by senior team members;
- Translate technical, engineering and operational input from Client and delivery partners into structured security documentation, seeking guidance from senior team members on complex or ambiguous requirements.
Skills required:
- 2 to 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or a related consulting discipline;
- Demonstrated experience delivering cybersecurity engagements, including security documentation, IT audits or IRAP-aligned assessments;
- Working knowledge of Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM) requirements;
