Salary: £85,000 - 85,000 per year

Requirements:

  • We need the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary Agile development team.
  • We need active SC clearance.
  • Previous experience working within defence, aerospace, government or another security-sensitive environment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes or container orchestration environments is desirable.
  • Experience developing highly available or mission-critical software systems is desirable.
  • Understanding of secure software development principles is desirable.
  • Experience working on cloud-hosted or distributed applications is desirable.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development is desirable.
  • Experience supporting software throughout development, deployment and live-service operation is desirable.

Responsibilities:
  • We design, develop and maintain secure, reliable software applications.
  • We build responsive front-end applications using React, JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • We develop and maintain back-end services using Node.js and Java Spring Boot.
  • We use Redux to manage application state effectively.
  • We design, build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • We develop solutions using MongoDB, Redis and other data-storage technologies.
  • We integrate applications with messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ.
  • We containerise applications and services using Docker.
  • We support the deployment and management of applications using Helm.
  • We create and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
  • We use Ansible to automate application deployments and infrastructure configuration.
  • We produce and maintain UNIX shell scripts to support automation and operational activities.
  • We troubleshoot software defects, deployment issues and application performance problems.
  • We participate in code reviews, testing and continuous improvement activities.
  • We produce clear technical documentation, including build instructions, support documentation and release notes.
  • We work collaboratively with software engineers, technical architects, testers, DevOps engineers and other programme stakeholders.
  • We follow secure coding practices and development standards appropriate for a defence environment.
  • We contribute to Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives.

We are hiring experienced Software Engineers for a permanent role in Manchester, with a hybrid working pattern of 3 days per week onsite. This is an opportunity to join a major programme within a secure defence environment, working on complex, business-critical software applications using a broad modern technology stack. The salary is £75,000 - £85,000.
