Summary

Protects military operations by enforcing security policies, managing clearances, and implementing anti-terrorism and physical security measures for the Army National Guard.

This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a SECURITY SPECIALIST (PROTECTION), Position Description Number PDD2617000, and is part of the SC J3, South Carolina Army National Guard.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the ARNG Protection Specialist for functional elements and related physical and operations security policy and issues, handling of intelligence and law enforcement sensitive information, managing assigned program areas, directing studies and reviewing, revising and implementing protection policy and projects. This position is located within the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) Army National Guard (ARNG) Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations (DCSOPS) G3/5/7 Section. The work requirements include practical understanding, specialized skills, and fundamental knowledge of the following Series GS-0080 programs: security police; information security; sensitive compartmental information; special security requirements; force protection; anti-terrorism; information protection; security police training, unit deployment, and physical security. Work involves security policies, guiding principles, training requirements, and certifications. Some work in this occupation require expanded security clearances, an extensive knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations and procedures governing a distinct set of operational duties and responsibilities for performing security functions and handling weapons.
