  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor invoices, customer payments, account reconciliations, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and other routine accounting adjustments.
  • Complete the monthly accounting close, including reconciliations, supporting schedules, and routine financial statements.
  • Maintain inventory accounting records, reconcile inventory balances, assist with physical counts, and work with operations to resolve discrepancies.
  • Record inventory adjustments and manufacturing-related accounting transactions and support product costing activities.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and payroll-related accounting records.
  • Prepare aging reports, expense summaries, account analyses, and other routine financial reports.
  • Provide accurate accounting records and supporting schedules to the fractional CFO and outside accountants for budgeting, forecasting, tax preparation, and year-end reporting.
  • Work with purchasing, production, customer service, and vendors to resolve accounting and transaction discrepancies.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, accuracy, and efficiency.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Strong experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting, including preparation of routine financial statements.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to independently manage accounting responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, vendors, and outside professionals.
  • Sound judgment and a commitment to maintaining accurate and confidential financial information.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Accounting experience in manufacturing, medical devices, distribution, or another inventory-based business.
  • Experience with inventory accounting, manufacturing transactions, and product costing.
  • QuickBooks Enterprise experience.
  • Experience working in a small or mid-sized company with an outside CPA or fractional CFO.
