Senior Accounting & Group Reporting Manager (m/f/d)

METYCLE - where innovation meets sustainability

We are building the B2B online platform to accelerate the global circular flow of secondary metals. By connecting buyers and sellers of scrap metal globally, we enable efficient trade of secondary metals and drive the seamless flow of recycling material, essential for reducing CO2 emissions by up to 95% compared to primary metal production.

And we take it further! We are pioneering an innovative Smart Sorting Facility that leverages AI, machine learning, and robotics to transform how scrap metal is processed, enhance material quality, improve traceability, and drive the recycling industry into the digital era.

Join us at the early stage in bringing the $610 billion scrap metal trading industry into the 21st century and in shaping the future of metal recycling and green energy solutions. If you are passionate about building scalable finance structures and establishing reliable accounting processes, join our team as a Senior Accounting & Group Reporting Manager! In this role, you will shape and professionalize our accounting function as we continue to scale internationally. Working closely with our CFO, external partners, and tax advisors, you will ensure high-quality financial reporting while developing efficient, scalable finance processes across multiple legal entities.

We are looking for a highly skilled, hands-on, and self-driven professional to take ownership of our accounting processes under German GAAP (HGB) and coordinate accounting activities across our growing international group. You combine strong technical accounting expertise with a pragmatic, entrepreneurial mindset – knowing when absolute precision is essential and when commercially sound, well-documented solutions are the right approach in a fast-growing scale-up.
  • Financial Closings: Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes for our German entity under German GAAP (HGB) and coordinate international closing processes in collaboration with external local accounting firms and tax advisors
  • Group & Management Reporting: Own the management and group reporting processes and lead the development and implementation of consolidated reporting structures as the company grows
  • Intercompany Accounting: Manage intercompany accounting, reconciliations, funding balances, and settlements across all legal entities
  • Compliance & Audits: Coordinate statutory annual financial statements, tax filings, and audits with external advisors in Germany and abroad. Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements while continuously improving accounting policies, documentation, and internal controls
  • Process & Automation: Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements in close collaboration with our Tech/Product teams
  • Operations Support: Oversee inventory accounting and warehouse reconciliations for our international operations
  • In-House Expert: Act as the go-to subject matter expert for accounting matters within the organization and collaborate closely with tax advisors on tax-related topics
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (professional accounting certifications are a plus)
  • At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in an international scale-up, trading business, or fast-growing SME
  • Strong experience with statutory accounting, month-end / year-end closing, group reporting, consolidation processes, and multi-entity accounting
  • In-depth knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) with sound experience in intercompany accounting and accounting across international jurisdictions; exposure to IFRS is a strong advantage
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., DATEV), Excel, ERP systems, and finance automation initiatives
  • Experience with inventory accounting and working capital management, ideally in a trading or inventory-driven environment
  • Proven experience coordinating with external auditors, tax advisors, and international accounting partners with the ability to improve and scale accounting processes across multiple entities
  • Independent, structured, and solution-oriented with a proactive mindset and excellent communication skills, comfortable operating in a dynamic, evolving scale-up environment
  • Fluent in English, proficiency in German is a plus; ideally located in or near Cologne, Germany, with a valid work permit (hybrid setup)
  • You will have the opportunity to challenge the status quo and work on an innovative venture with a significant impact
  • You will be able to take ownership and shape the future of metal recycling and green energy solutions at an early stage
  • We offer a competitive salary including virtual company shares
  • We offer an environment with flat hierarchies and a steep learning curve with exciting growth opportunities
  • You will benefit from flexible working hours and the opportunity to work remotely or from a shared office location
  • We promote an inclusive, diverse and supportive work environment
