Senior Application Support Engineer
Our client is a technology consulting company providing operational and engineering services to the high-tech sector. They support platform and infrastructure teams across cloud and distributed environments, helping maintain reliable applications, improve operational performance, and resolve complex production issues.
The Role
Our client is looking for a Senior Application Support Engineer to support business-critical, microservices-based applications running across Linux, Kubernetes, and AWS/cloud environments.
The role focuses on production support, incident response, application troubleshooting, and distributed system reliability. You will work closely with development and platform engineering teams to resolve technical issues, improve operational processes, and maintain stable production services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain microservices-based applications across Linux, Kubernetes, and cloud environments.
- Monitor application and service health and respond to production incidents, outages, and performance issues.
- Diagnose application and platform problems using logs, metrics, monitoring tools, and system diagnostics.
- Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to resolve application, service, and platform-related issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and contribute to long-term reliability improvements.
- Maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and operational documentation.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive support and operational tasks.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Participate in a rotational on-call schedule supporting a 24/7 production environment.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience supporting production applications, distributed systems, or similar environments.
- Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, APIs, TLS/SSL certificates, and application connectivity, with experience troubleshooting service-level issues.
- Experience supporting microservices architectures, including deployments, service communication, scalability, and application reliability.
- Hands-on experience working with Linux, Kubernetes or container platforms, and AWS or other cloud environments.
- Experience using monitoring, logging, metrics, and observability tools to investigate incidents and assess application health.
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows and scripting using Bash, Python, or similar languages for operational automation.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting API gateways, messaging platforms, or shared platform services.
- Exposure to DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering environments.
- Relevant cloud or Kubernetes certifications such as CKAD or AWS certifications.
