Senior Azure Administrator / DevOps Engineer

Experience: 4–7 Years
Location: Phase 7 Industrial Area, Mohali
Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: Engineering / Cloud Infrastructure

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Azure Administrator / DevOps Engineer to take ownership of the cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, security, reliability, monitoring, and day-to-day operations of our enterprise SaaS applications hosted on Microsoft Azure.

The candidate will be responsible for managing a production architecture built around Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Front Door, NGINX Ingress, Azure Database for MySQL, Azure Managed Redis, Azure Storage, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Web PubSub, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Azure AI services, and private networking.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience managing production AKS environments and deploying and operating Node.js applications at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage production, staging, UAT, and development infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.

  • Administer and operate Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters hosting Node.js applications and supporting services.

  • Manage AKS node pools, system and user node pools, upgrades, autoscaling, resource requests/limits, health probes, Pod Disruption Budgets, and cluster capacity.

  • Design and maintain secure Azure networking, including VNets, subnets, NSGs, private endpoints, private DNS, Hub-Spoke architecture, and controlled administrative access.

  • Manage NGINX Ingress Controller, Azure Front Door, WAF policies, TLS certificates, DNS, routing, and application traffic management.

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Node.js and Angular applications using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent platforms.

  • Manage Docker image creation, container registries, Kubernetes manifests, Helm charts, deployment strategies, rollback procedures, and environment configurations.

  • Implement safe deployment strategies such as Rolling Updates, Blue-Green, and Canary deployments where required.

  • Manage Azure Database for MySQL, Redis, Storage Accounts, Event Hubs, Web PubSub, Key Vault, and other Azure services used by applications.

  • Implement centralized application and infrastructure logging for Node.js applications, containers, Kubernetes workloads, ingress controllers, and Azure resources.

  • Build dashboards, alerts, and monitoring using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, Prometheus, Grafana, and similar observability tools.

  • Troubleshoot production issues involving Kubernetes, networking, DNS, application deployments, database connectivity, Redis, CPU/memory utilization, latency, and infrastructure failures.

  • Implement infrastructure security best practices including RBAC, Managed Identities, Workload Identity, Key Vault integration, secrets management, network isolation, and least-privilege access.

  • Manage infrastructure backup, disaster recovery, database replication, cross-region recovery procedures, and periodically conduct DR drills.

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or equivalent technologies.

  • Perform Azure cost monitoring, capacity planning, infrastructure optimization, and FinOps activities.

  • Conduct infrastructure vulnerability remediation, patch management, AKS upgrades, Kubernetes version upgrades, and Azure service lifecycle management.

  • Maintain infrastructure architecture diagrams, deployment procedures, operational runbooks, DR documents, and incident response procedures.

  • Participate in production incident management, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and preventive action implementation.

  • Work closely with backend, frontend, mobile, security, and QA teams to ensure reliable application releases.

  • Mentor junior DevOps engineers and establish DevOps standards, deployment controls, and infrastructure best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 4–7 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, SRE, or Azure Administration roles.

  • Minimum 2–3 years of strong production experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and networking.

  • Experience deploying and operating Node.js applications in production environments.

  • Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, container registries, and containerized deployments.

  • Experience with Azure Front Door, WAF, Load Balancers, NGINX Ingress, VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints, and Private DNS.

  • Strong CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.

  • Experience implementing centralized logging, monitoring, alerting, and production observability.

  • Working knowledge of Azure Database for MySQL and Redis administration, monitoring, backup, and performance troubleshooting.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep.

  • Strong Linux administration and shell scripting skills.

  • Understanding of application deployment architecture, REST APIs, WebSockets, background workers, queues, and distributed systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across application, Kubernetes, networking, database, and cloud infrastructure layers.

  • Experience handling production incidents and performing Root Cause Analysis.

  • Good understanding of cloud security, RBAC, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure hardening.

Azure Certification

Candidate should hold at least one relevant Microsoft Azure certification, preferably:

AZ-104 – Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

Additional preferred certifications include:

AZ-400 – Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
AZ-305 – Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
AZ-500 – Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate

Good to Have

Experience with Azure Event Hubs, Azure Web PubSub, Azure AI services, Azure Storage/ADLS Gen2, multi-region deployments, high-availability architectures, DR environments, ISO 27001 environments, security audits, VAPT remediation, SAST/SCA tooling, FinOps, and high-scale B2B SaaS platforms will be an advantage.

What We Expect from the Senior Engineer

This is an infrastructure ownership role, not only a CI/CD pipeline management position.

The engineer should be capable of independently owning the Azure environment, making architecture recommendations, handling production incidents, improving security and reliability, planning capacity, controlling cloud costs, maintaining DR readiness, and continuously improving the DevOps and infrastructure practices of the engineering organization.
