Senior Backend Developer (Elixir)
Summary
Senior backend developer building and modernizing scalable backend systems for Recruitee, Tellent's applicant tracking system. Day-to-day involves Elixir development, owning features end to end, and architecture decisions, with PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and RabbitMQ.
In this role you will build and evolve reliable, scalable backend systems for Tellent Recruitee, an Applicant Tracking System used by thousands worldwide. You will work within Team Hire to balance technical excellence with user impact, contributing to both new features and modernization efforts. Expect collaborative problem solving withDesign, QA, and DevOps to deliver high-quality product improvements. This position offers hands-on work with Elixir and opportunities to influence architecture and engineering practices within a fast-growing scale-up.

- Commercial experience with Elixir, or strong backend experience in Rails, Python, Java, or PHP with motivation to learn Elixir
- Experience building scalable applications and solid PostgreSQL knowledge
- Knowledge of Elasticsearch and RabbitMQ
- Strong debugging and pragmatic problem-solving approach
- Focus on quality, reliability, and pragmatic trade-offs
- Product mindset with user-centric thinking and good engineering judgment
- Collaborative and willing to participate in pair programming and knowledge sharing
- Experience with messaging systems at scale is a plus
