Senior Backend Developer (Kotlin/Java, Spring, Kafka)

In this role you will own backlog areas in a high-traffic retail media SaaS suite for all Ahold Delhaize brands in Europe. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement features that scale for multiple retailers, focusing on code quality, automated tests, and end-to-end reliability. You’ll shape the product by proposing ideas and connecting broader platform work with brand-level outcomes. • Own specific product areas within the retail media SaaS suite
• Develop and refine features for multiple brands across Europe
• Collaborate with product owner and team to explore innovative ideas
• Address challenges of multi-retailer SaaS development
• Prioritize automated end-to-end tests and code quality
• Contribute to broader product suite beyond own area
• Drive continuous improvement and share ideas

• 8+ years of Backend Engineering experience
• Proficient in Kotlin/Java (17+)
• Experience with Microservices Architecture and Spring Framework
• Experience with Kafka, MongoDB, Postgres, and APIs (big plus)
• Agile software development experience
• Strong CI/CD understanding in a cloud environment (MS Azure/AKS)
• Commitment to team, ability to challenge status quo
• Invoice fluent English communication; located in the Netherlands
