Senior Backend Engineer - FinTech Microservices, Remote-First

trtwo is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build scalable microservices for a fintech payments platform. You will work on RESTful APIs, high‑performance data stores, and secure code practices within a remote‑first environment.

You’ll collaborate with product, compliance, and infrastructure teams, mentor engineers, and contribute to the technical roadmap while supporting on-call incident response.

Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven microservices for payment processing Optimize database queries and ensure sub-100ms responses at scale Collaborate with DevOps to manage CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes deployments Conduct code reviews and mentor mid-level engineers Participate in on-call rotation and incident response Contribute to architecture decisions and technical roadmap 5+ years backend development in Java or Python Strong PostgreSQL/Redis knowledge and message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ) Experience with microservices architecture and container orchestration Understanding of PCI-DSS compliance and secure coding practices Stock options
