Senior Backend Engineer

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Backend Engineer to join their innovative team, initially operating remotely but with potential for hybrid work in Rustenburg . This role is crucial for developing and scaling the server-side logic, databases, and APIs that power our client's core products. You will be instrumental in designing efficient, reliable, and maintainable backend systems, working closely with front-end developers and product managers to deliver exceptional user experiences. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Develop and optimize database schemas and queries for performance and scalability.
• Build and maintain robust, secure, and well-documented APIs for internal and external consumption.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Implement security and data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information.
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical decision-making .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• Strong proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Expertise in relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker).
• Solid understanding of architectural patterns and system design principles .
