Senior Backend Engineer — Scalable, Hybrid/Remote Europe

Shopfully is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join a cross‑functional team powering our iOS and Android applications, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable services. You will own backend services end‑to‑end, design large‑scale systems, mentor engineers, and shape technical decisions across product, design and data teams.

The role supports a flexible hybrid model with remote options for Europe, including Italy.

Design and evolve scalable, secure distributed systems in a microservices architecture. Own backend service architecture and reusable components. Translate product requirements into technical solutions with cross‑team collaboration. Own end‑to‑end SDLC from design to production support. Write clean, robust, tested code following SOLID and CI/CD practices. Guide architectural decisions and mentor via code reviews. Integrate AI-assisted development tools into daily workflow. 7+ years backend or full‑stack experience building scalable systems. Experience with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, S3). Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases; Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with event‑driven systems and messaging (Kafka, SQS/SNS). Strong system design and production troubleshooting. Software engineering practices: clean‑code, testing, CI/CD, Git workflows. Experience using AI tools in software workflows. Willingness to participate in on‑call rotations.
