We are a team of entrepreneurs, engineers, and product builders dedicated to solving complex technical challenges and turning bold ideas into impactful technology. **About the Role** We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our small, high-performing engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who takes strong ownership, enjoys solving complex backend and infrastructure challenges, and thrives working independently with minimal supervision. As part of a lean team, we're looking for someone who is not only technically strong but also collaborative, humble, and genuinely enjoyable to work with. **Responsibilities** * Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java or Kotlin. * Build and optimize high-performance, production-grade applications using Quarkus. * Design and optimize PostgreSQL and Redis deployments for performance, reliability, and scalability. * Configure and maintain Kubernetes workloads, deployment strategies, and application manifests. * Configure, secure, and manage Linux-based cloud virtual machines supporting stateful services. * Design, improve, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enable automated, reliable, and secure deployments. * Work closely with the CTO to translate product requirements into technical solutions while taking ownership of backend architecture and implementation. * Drive technical improvements, automation initiatives, and operational excellence across the platform. **Technical Requirements** * 7+ years of professional backend software development experience. * Strong expertise building production-grade applications using Java or Kotlin. * Hands-on production experience with Quarkus, or extensive Spring Boot experience with the ability to quickly master Quarkus, including its compile-time optimizations and reactive programming model. * Deep expertise with PostgreSQL, including: Query optimization; Indexing strategies; Connection pooling; High-throughput relational database performance * Strong experience with Redis, including: Caching strategies; Data structures; Eviction policies * Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining Kubernetes deployments, manifests, and containerized workloads. * Experience configuring, securing, and managing Linux cloud virtual machines for stateful services such as PostgreSQL and Redis. * Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation-driven deployments, with experience building systems that safely deploy applications and infrastructure without direct production server access. **Soft Skills** * Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken). * High level of ownership and accountability. * Able to work independently with minimal supervision. * Comfortable working directly with a CTO in a small engineering team. * Collaborative, proactive, and genuinely pleasant to work with. **Working Arrangement** * Able to align working hours as much as possible with the Luxembourg timezone (later start and finish). * Comfortable working remotely in a highly autonomous environment. **What do we offer?** * Projects/Clients: Work on interesting global projects and high-impact challenges for top brands and governments using a mature SCRUM framework. * Team & Environment: Join a diverse community across Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, and Europe in an optimized remote environment. * Culture: Experience a trust-centric, flexible, and collaborative culture where everyone is ready to lend a helping hand. * Learning & Growth: Access mentoring programs, Growth Accountability Groups, and annual training credits to keep you at the forefront of tech trends. * Cutting-Edge Tech: Engage with a wide range of technologies including AI, blockchain, Cloud services, and microservices.
