emagine is looking for a Senior Backend / Infrastructure Consultant

Start: ASAP or 1 month from signature

Length: 6 months with possible extension

Location: Stockholm on-site 4 days per week is required

We are currently supporting a client that is looking for a highly autonomous consultant to take ownership of a specialized modernization and optimization assignment.

The consultant will work closely with an Engineering Manager and focus on evaluating, maintaining, and defining the future strategy for an existing referral platform that has been operating in maintenance mode for several years. The solution consists of multiple backend services running across development, integration, and production environments.

The assignment is not only technical but also strategic in nature. The consultant will assess the current state of the platform, identify opportunities to reduce complexity and operational overhead, evaluate potential migration paths to third-party solutions, and provide business-oriented decision support based on cost and value analysis.

Examples of responsibilities include:

• Analyzing the current architecture and operational footprint.

• Identifying and removing non-critical functionality to simplify the platform.

• Evaluating whether parts or all of the solution should be migrated to a third-party service.

• Estimating operational and development costs.

• Gathering and analyzing business value, revenue impact, and ROI metrics.

• Developing recommendations and an execution plan for the platform's future.

Required profile

• Strong infrastructure background, preferably within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Solid backend development experience.

• Experience with Kotlin is highly preferred.

• Highly self-driven and comfortable working independently.

• Ability to estimate and analyze the real costs associated with running and maintaining software systems.

• Strong business understanding and the ability to translate technical findings into decision-making material for stakeholders.

• Comfortable taking ownership of aging systems and driving simplification, optimization, or decommissioning initiatives.
