Senior Backend Software Engineer (Location-Based Services) - TikTok Local Service

Summary

Build and optimize high-performance geolocation services for TikTok’s local merchant discovery using fused signals (IP, Wi-Fi, GPS) and microservices, with a focus on scalability and AI-driven workflows.

TikTok LBS Platform is building a global high-quality LBS database and high-performance LBS services that connect TikTok users with nearby merchants and local services.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Builda fusedgeolocation system using multiple signal sources such as IP, Wi‑Fi, and GPS to support TikTok local services and other TikTok products.
  • Build Nearby & Location Profileservicesto support TikTok local services. You'll be exploring cutting‑edge technology alongside experts, pushing the boundaries of imagination. Every line of your code will serve billions of users.
  • Participate in building anreal‑timestreaming data scheduling system to ensure overall data scheduling performance and high scalability.
  • Participate in constructing the entire geolocation data access process, the online/offline data cleansing modules, and the microservice encapsulation, development, and deployment of algorithm models.
  • Engage in developing the core geolocationmicroservices, including online storage, geolocation inferencing services, and fusion service modules, to meethigh queries per second (QPS)from multiple upstream services.
  • Continuously analyze and deeply explore system deficiencies to improve system performance and stability.
  • Design, build, and evaluate LLM‑powered workflows, including prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), tool use and agent orchestration, to improve the efficiency of feature engineering and microservice iteration upgrades for geolocation.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers to establish efficient module update and release mechanisms and processes, enhancing overall system development and iteration efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Java, Golang, PHP, Python, or C++, with a preference for experience in Golang or Java.
  • Knowledge including but not limited to Linux systems and principles, MySQL, NoSQL, RPC, MQ, caching technologies, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with building high-concurrency services.
  • Good coding and documentation practices, with attention to code style, familiarity with fundamental design patterns and principles, and the ability to continuously monitor and optimize the projects you are responsible for, as well as coordinate with multiple stakeholders to drive project implementation.
  • Understanding of geolocation big data processing workflows, with hands‑on experience in systematic construction such as microservice encapsulation, development, and deployment of algorithm models.
  • Prior experience in geolocation big data processing and data management is preferred.
