- Serve in a lead technical role on bridge design projects
- Serve as a technical specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects, and supervise more junior engineers in the performance of engineering tasks
- Perform complex structural planning, analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects, develop design options or recommendations with support calculations
- Develop and coordinate plans, specifications and estimates for bridge and other transportation structure projects
- Perform quality control reviews of work products developed by junior engineers
- Assist in planning and management of all aspects of bridge inspection, design and rehabilitation projects
- Lead and serve as Team Leader on bridge, tunnels and ancillary structure inspections for state and local agencies
- Manage and review load rating computations for structures owned by state and local agencies
- Perform other duties as needed
Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- 8+ years of experience in design, inspection and/or load ratings of bridges, tunnels, culverts and ancillary highway structures.
- Working knowledge of bridge and tunnel standards of transportation agencies in Maryland (such as MDOT SHA, MDTA, MTA and counties) and Virginia (such as VDOT).
- Extensive project experience with Maryland and Virginia transportation agencies.
- NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges OR Bridge Inspection Refresher certification
- NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges OR Bridge Inspection Techniques for NSTM certification
- FHWA/NHI Tunnel Safety Inspection certification
- Excellent organization skills
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR)
- Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
- Able to traverse a construction job site
- Able to wear required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
- Preference given to candidates currently residing in the greater Baltimore area
