Senior Business Applications Analyst

Salary: Highly attractive salary package + 10% STI

Our client is an established Australian organisation looking for a Business Applications Senior Analyst to help run and improve its Finance and back-office applications environment.

You’ll work across the wider applications environment, while building your understanding of how technology can better enable Finance.

The Opportunity

You’ll work closely with Finance while remaining hands-on across the day-to-day Applications environment.

That means ensuring applications are reliable and appropriately governed, with changes, documentation, controls and application risks managed effectively.

Alongside BAU, you’ll identify opportunities to improve how technology supports Finance. Sometimes that will mean an application change. Other times it could be automation, reporting, process improvement or simply making better use of existing capability.

You’ll be involved across the application lifecycle, from requirements and solution design through configuration, testing, deployment and ongoing support.

Beyond JD Edwards

JD Edwards is the core ERP, so strong hands-on experience with the platform will be important.

From there, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your capability across applications, integrations and reporting, understanding how the wider environment fits together.

You’ll also contribute to thinking around the longer-term direction of the ERP environment, bringing your knowledge of current Finance processes and operational requirements into those conversations.

Understand the Business Behind the Technology

Finance process knowledge will be just as important as your systems capability.

You’ll need to understand the accounting and operational implications behind a requirement, with experience across areas such as general accounting, job costing, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable and procurement.

You won’t simply collect requirements and pass them on.

You’ll ask the right questions, understand what the business is actually trying to achieve and determine the most practical response. You’ll also be comfortable challenging an initial request when there is a better way to achieve the outcome.

Where specialist expertise is required, you’ll work with external partners while remaining accountable for progressing the outcome through to resolution.

Genuine Ownership

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Applications, with no direct reports.

Your impact will come from your knowledge, judgement and ability to influence outcomes across Finance and Technology.

Just as importantly, we’re looking for someone with the right mindset.

You’ll be curious and willing to learn, including when something sits outside your immediate area of expertise. When a problem lands with you, you’ll investigate it, involve the right people, form a view and help find a way forward.

You won’t need to know every part of the environment from day one. What matters is having strong foundations and the willingness to keep expanding what you know.

What You’ll Bring

This could suit a Business Applications Analyst, Finance Systems Analyst, ERP Analyst or functional specialist ready to take the next step in their career.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong hands-on JD Edwards experience
  • Business Applications experience across design, configuration, implementation, maintenance and support
  • Good understanding of Finance processes and how they translate into application requirements
  • Experience working across applications, integrations and reporting
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capability
  • Confidence working with stakeholders and challenging requirements constructively
  • Experience working with vendors and following issues through to resolution

The role is based in St Leonards, with parking available onsite, and offers hybrid working with three days onsite and two days WFH.

Remuneration is $160,000–$180,000 including superannuation, together with a 10% target STI based on individual and company performance.
