Senior Cloud Data Engineer – Melrose Arch (Hybrid) – R1.08m PA

It’s about building reliable, scalable platforms that support advanced analytics, automation and intelligent decision-making.

We’re looking for a Senior Cloud Data Engineer who can take ownership of modern data pipelines, solve complex engineering challenges and help shape a cloud-first data environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Build API-driven ingestion workflows and real-time data integrations.
• Develop reliable data solutions using Python and SQL.
• Improve the performance, efficiency and automation of existing data workflows.
• Apply strong software engineering practices, including testing, documentation and version control.
• Support CI/CD for data workflows and containerised ETL deployments.
• Work with infrastructure-as-code and data-devops principles.
• Partner with senior engineers, data scientists and business stakeholders to turn requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Take ownership of projects from design through to delivery.
• Share knowledge and mentor junior engineers.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• 7+ years’ experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused engineering role.
• Strong Python development and scripting skills.
• Advanced SQL experience, including relational database querying and data modelling.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes or similar container technologies.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Solid knowledge of the software development lifecycle and clean, maintainable code.
• The ability to work independently, take ownership and solve problems without constant direction.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with data security, privacy and access controls.
• Knowledge of Terraform, Helm or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Exposure to event-driven architecture or stream processing.
• Familiarity with AI concepts and prompt engineering.
