Senior Data Engineer
Summary
Long-term contract for a Senior Data Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable cloud data pipelines, ingestion/transformation processes and data models supporting reporting and analytics in a complex enterprise. Core stack is SQL, Python and PySpark, with Databricks, AWS and Fivetran highly regarded; hybrid working in Queensland.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support the delivery of data and analytics solutions within a complex enterprise organisation. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the successful delivery of scalable, high quality data capabilities that support business reporting, analytics and decision making.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a growing data and digital transformation program, working across multiple workstreams including data engineering, integration, data modelling, automation and analytics enablement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and data solutions.
- Develop data ingestion, transformation and orchestration processes.
- Deliver high quality data assets to support reporting and analytics requirements.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate requirements into practical data solutions.
- Contribute to solution design, data modelling and engineering best practices.
- Conduct testing, peer reviews and quality assurance activities.
- Support deployment, release management and operational readiness activities.
- Maintain technical documentation and development standards.
- Participate in Agile planning and delivery activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and reusable engineering frameworks.
About You
You will bring strong experience as a Senior Data Engineer working across complex, multi-stream projects, with the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering robust and scalable data solutions in a collaborative environment.
Essential Experience
- 5+ years' experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering or Data Warehousing.
- Strong hands-on experience developing modern cloud-based data solutions.
- Advanced SQL development, optimisation and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using Python and PySpark.
- Experience building and supporting data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
- Strong understanding of data modelling and data warehousing principles.
- Experience with source control, CI/CD and deployment automation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience working within Agile delivery teams.

- Data quality, monitoring and observability practices.
- Experience working in large enterprise environments.
