Senior Cloud Engineer (Azure)

Are you an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer with a strong background in Microsoft Azure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevSecOps?

We are seeking skilled professionals to support the delivery of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions within a Federal Government environment.

Contract Details

• 12-month initial contract
• 2 x 6-month extension options
• Locations: ACT
• Woking Arrangements: Hybrid
• Australian Citizenship is mandatory
• NV1 Security Clearance required

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
• Implement and maintain Azure landing zones, networking, identity, security, governance, and monitoring services.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or similar.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation through Azure DevOps.
• Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
• Implement cloud security controls and ensure compliance with government security frameworks and best practices.
• Produce technical documentation, implementation guides, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Essential Experience

• Extensive experience designing and implementing Azure cloud solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps practices.
• Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, security, scalability, and operational best practices.
• Experience working in complex enterprise or government environments.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of Australian Government security and assurance processes, including ISM, PSPF, and IRAP.
• Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
• Experience with Windows Server, SQL Server, SharePoint, .NET, Angular, IIS, and ADFS.
• Previous experience mentoring engineers and uplifting team capability.
