Senior Cloud Security Specialist - Zscaler SME

• Location: Remote (Canberra office visits for workshops/planning as required) - Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Tasmania
• 12 months contract + 12 months extension options
• Must be Australian Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain Baseline Clearance

FinXL is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Security Specialist - Zscaler Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide high-level advisory, architecture, engineering, operational uplift, and knowledge transfer services for an enterprise Zero Trust program.

This role focuses heavily on capability uplift and sustainable operations rather than ongoing operational augmentation. Approximately 30-40% of the engagement effort will be dedicated to mentoring, technical documentation, shadowing, and structured knowledge transfer to internal technical staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and optimise Zscaler Cloud Connector monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards.
• Review existing Zero Trust architecture and validate Zscaler security configurations, resilience, and recovery settings.
• Support completion and adoption of Zscaler Policy as Code and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to reduce manual configurations and scale out automation.
• specialist technical advice across the Zscaler platform and its integration with cloud, network, and security services.
• Develop and maintain detailed operational runbooks, troubleshooting guides, support procedures, and technical documentation.
• Deliver structured mentoring, hands-on support, shadowing, and formal knowledge transfer to Network, Cloud, and Security teams to ensure smooth service transition.
• Establish capability uplift plans with measurable exit criteria while identifying and managing technical, security, and operational risks.

Key Requirements:

• Experienced in designing, implementing, administering, and optimising enterprise Zscaler solutions, including Cloud Connector and Zero Trust controls.
• Proven track record in uplifting Zscaler monitoring, alerting, dashboards, troubleshooting, and handling incident support.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing Zero Trust architecture and validating security configurations, operational controls, resilience, and recovery.
• Demonstrated experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Policy as Code for secure cloud or network platforms using version-controlled changes.
• Proven ability to create high-quality runbooks and support procedures, as well as identify and manage technical and delivery risks.
• Highly developed communication and stakeholder management skills with direct experience mentoring technical staff and delivering structured knowledge transfer.
