Senior Cloud Systems Administrator, Public Trust
Summary
Remote senior cloud systems administrator supporting a high-traffic, public-facing Drupal platform on AWS: administering Linux/LAMP infrastructure, maintaining Solr/Elasticsearch search services, monitoring performance and capacity, and independently troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues while advising technical and nontechnical client stakeholders.
This is a remote position.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure operations, or enterprise IT support.
- Demonstrated experience administering Linux-based production environments, including installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience supporting infrastructure and cloud services hosted in AWS.
- Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Solr Search and Elasticsearch.
- Experience supporting enterprise web applications, including Drupal CMS and LAMP-stack technologies.
- Ability to independently diagnose complex infrastructure, application, and integration issues and communicate recommendations to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the professionalism to operate effectively in a client-facing consulting environment.
- Experience with Akamai CDN services and Drupal hosting platforms such as Acquia is preferred.
- Experience supporting government, healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated environment is preferred.
- Implement, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain AWS-hosted IT systems and cloud services supporting the client's public-facing web environment.
- Administer Drupal CMS infrastructure hosted on a Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP (LAMP) stack.
- Manage infrastructure, services, and operational processes across servers, storage, network devices, client systems, and mobile devices, as applicable.
- Provide advanced technical and help desk support, including problem identification, diagnosis, resolution, escalation, and root-cause analysis.
- Analyze and resolve complex issues involving server hosts, applications, search services, and software integrations.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, availability, capacity, and resource utilization; conduct capacity analysis and system planning.
- Troubleshoot network components and maintain the integrity, reliability, and security of production systems.
- Provide clear technical analysis, status updates, and recommendations to client management and internal stakeholders on escalated issues.
- Support system and solution architecture design, including infrastructure planning and evaluation of associated hardware and platform components.
- Install, configure, patch, secure, and maintain Linux and other applicable operating systems; implement enhancements that improve reliability and performance.
- Apply working knowledge of system administration interdependencies within a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
- Produce and maintain operational documentation, procedures, and knowledge articles that support consistent service delivery.
