Senior Compliance Manager - Global FCC Investigations

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Compliance Manager - Global FCC Investigations based in Germany.

In this role, you will lead critical financial crime compliance activities across transaction monitoring and suspicious activity investigations in a global environment. You will manage and develop a team of AML investigators while helping strengthen investigation processes, controls, and operational effectiveness. Working closely with compliance, risk, legal, law enforcement liaison, product, and engineering stakeholders, you will help translate regulatory requirements into scalable solutions. Your expertise will support the identification and mitigation of money laundering and terrorism financing risks across multiple jurisdictions. You will also contribute to systems enhancements, process optimization, and high-quality investigative documentation. Accountabilities

  • Lead, manage, mentor, and develop a team of AML investigators, ensuring strong performance, investigation quality, and effective execution.
  • Support day-to-day transaction monitoring and suspicious activity investigation operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Evaluate AML/CFT transaction monitoring and Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) requirements across multiple jurisdictions and ensure appropriate and timely escalation.
  • Help design and implement tactical and scalable solutions that enable operational teams to manage financial crime compliance activities efficiently.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to enhance systems, tools, and workflows supporting transaction monitoring and investigations.
  • Drive process improvements and procedure updates across Global FCC Investigations, including Transaction Monitoring, Blockchain Investigations, and Suspicious Transaction Reporting.
  • Draft, maintain, and continuously improve standard operating procedures and other operational documentation.
  • Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, quality issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Compliance Leaders, Training teams, and other FCC managers to develop mitigating actions, strengthen investigation quality, improve team performance, and close identified gaps.
  • Monitor developments in the cryptocurrency industry, financial crime trends, and global AML/CFT regulatory requirements to assess their impact on investigations and transaction monitoring.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders, including the MLRO, Risk teams, and Law Enforcement Liaison teams.
  • Support strategic and ad-hoc projects assigned by senior leadership and contribute to broader financial crime compliance initiatives.
  • Promote effective use of AI-powered tools and emerging technologies to improve compliance operations and investigative efficiency.
  • Requirements:

    • 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience in AML/CFT investigations and operations, transaction monitoring, or related financial crime functions.
    • Experience within a regulated financial institution, payment institution, FinTech, cryptocurrency business, or Digital Payment Token (DPT) service provider is strongly preferred.
    • 2–3 years of experience managing and leading high-performing teams, with a demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and motivate investigators.
    • Strong understanding of global AML/CFT regulatory frameworks, including relevant FATF guidance and requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
    • Analytical and metrics-driven approach, with the ability to use data to identify risks, substantiate recommendations, and develop effective solutions.
    • Strong process and project management skills, combined with excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
    • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
    • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to challenge existing practices and recommend improvements.
    • High level of integrity and ethical judgment, with the ability to handle sensitive financial crime matters appropriately.
    • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within geographically dispersed and cross-functional teams.
    • Strong willingness and ability to adopt AI-powered tools as part of modern compliance and investigative workflows.
    • Experience working in a multinational or matrixed organization with global coverage is a strong advantage.
    • Familiarity with transaction monitoring, blockchain analytics, and reporting platforms such as Elliptic or Chainalysis is desirable.
    • Professional certifications such as CAMS, CFCS, ICA Diploma, or equivalent are an advantage.
