Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
As part of the Data and Information Products team, the Senior Data Analyst supports OSPRI by producing high-quality analysis, reports, dashboards, and metrics that enable informed decision-making across the business. Working within OSPRI's modern data platform, the role utilises tools such as Azure Databricks, Python, and R to deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
The Senior Data Analyst takes ownership of data pipelines and data apps that underpin OSPRI's reporting and operational needs, and acts as a subject matter expert within projects and initiatives. As OSPRI's data environment continues to mature, this role drives data quality, classification, and migration initiatives to ensure our datasets remain accurate, well-governed, and fit for purpose. The Senior Data Analyst also mentors and guides other team members, lifting capability across the practice.

What success will look like:
- Taking ownership of complex analysis, reports, dashboards and metrics that meet business needs and support high-quality decision-making across OSPRI.
- Building and maintaining data pipeline and data apps within OSPRI’s data platform.
- Contributing as a subject matter expert within projects and programmes of work, providing technical guidance and shaping approaches.
- Mentoring Data Analysts within the team, lifting their analytical and technical capability.
- Partnering with business stakeholders to understand requirements, scope work and deliver fit-for-purpose information products.
- Leading the ongoing improvement of OSPRI’s data platforms, tools and processes.
- Living OSPRI’s values daily.
Kōrero mōu - About you
You will have a passion for Data and will be well underway in your Data Career. You will ideally have experience in the tools and techniques we use, but above all else be able to apply your existing experiences to what is a unique and challenging operating environment. You will have experience working independently as a key contact for the business and be open to mentoring less-experienced team members.
You naturally align with Purpose Led, keeping Farmers in mind with your work, and We Deliver, having a strong sense of clear expectations, outcomes, and ownership.
You will bring:
- Strong proficiency in data analysis and visualisation using tools such as Python, R, or SQL.
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and applications within cloud-based platforms (e.g., Azure Databricks).
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- The ability to translate technical information to non-technical audiences and guide them through analytical practices.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical thinking and data literacy, with the ability to apply these to complex or ambiguous problems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to own work end to end through from scoping to delivery.
- A collaborative working style.
- Experience mentoring more junior team members.

The salary range for this role is $96,125 (90%) - $106,805 (100%) - $128,166 (120%)
