Senior Data Architect (Azure Data Platform)

We are looking for a Senior Data Architect to define and govern the architecture of our Azure-based data platform. This role focuses on establishing standards, guiding engineering teams, and ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.

You will take ownership of Data Product architecture and design, while supporting the modernization of legacy solutions into modern Azure-based data platforms. This includes transitioning from MSBI-based reporting solutions to Data Products.

Additionally, you will provide architectural oversight for selected supplier-managed SaaS/COTS applications, with a strong focus on onboarding, security, compliance, and collaboration in audit-sensitive environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and govern end-to-end data architecture on Azure, including standards for ingestion, integration, transformation, and Medallion architecture

• Guide engineering teams on ETL/ELT, streaming, integration approaches, and Data Product design

• Drive modernization of legacy systems (SSIS, SSAS) into scalable, modern data platforms

• Contribute to technology selection and evolution of the Azure data ecosystem

• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance standards

• Oversee supplier-managed SaaS/COTS applications (onboarding, access models, technical validation)

• Support cross-functional troubleshooting across application, infrastructure, and integration layers

• Assist with external audits, including process reviews and supplier SOC reports

• Support implementation of secure access models, including Single Sign-On

Required Competencies

General

• Proven experience as a Senior Data Architect or similar senior role

• Strong experience with cloud-based data platforms (preferably Azure)

• Experience working with external vendors and mixed delivery models

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Understanding of audit, compliance, and control-driven environments

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Azure services such as:

  • Azure Data Factory

  • Azure Databricks

  • Azure Event Hub

  • Azure Storage

  • Azure Functions

• Deep understanding of:

  • ETL/ELT processes

  • Streaming and data integration patterns

  • Medallion architecture

  • Data Product design

• Proficiency in Python, Spark, and SQL

• Strong knowledge of Azure security:

  • Managed Identities

  • Service Principals

  • OAuth 2.0

  • Azure AD / Entra ID

  • Key Vault

  • Single Sign-On

• Experience with SaaS/COTS solutions, including:

  • Security and access reviews

  • Compliance and audit processes (SOC reports, financial controls)

Nice to Have

• Experience with Power BI

• API Gateways

• Enterprise data modeling

Working Model

• Candidates based in Wrocław or nearby: hybrid model (2 days/week in the office)

• Candidates from other locations in Poland: fully remote, with occasional visits (approx. once per quarter) for planning workshops
