About the Role
Company is seeking a highly autonomous Senior Data Engineer – Azure & Power BI Specialist to bridge the gap between complex enterprise Azure data pipelines and executive decision-making.
In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end cloud data lifecycle—from designing scalable Azure backend architecture and writing advanced SQL to architecting, optimizing, and securing high-performance Power BI semantic models for massive datasets (100M+ rows). Operating within an Agile sprint environment, you will work directly with business stakeholders as both a cloud data engineer and BI architect.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Cloud Modeling: Design and maintain robust Star Schemas (Fact/Dimension tables), build enterprise semantic layers, and optimize Azure data models to handle large-scale datasets efficiently.
Azure Pipeline & Query Optimization: Write, debug, and optimize complex SQL queries (using CTEs, window functions, and stored procedures) across Azure SQL and Synapse environments to extract, transform, and validate data.
Power BI Engineering & Development: Design and deploy executive dashboards, operational tracking systems, and financial scorecards tailored for desktop and mobile layouts.
Security & Governance: Architect and enforce Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS) across Azure ecosystems and Power BI to protect sensitive enterprise information.
Technical Stakeholder Alignment: Direct integration with business leadership to translate business requirements into technical cloud data solutions and present finished reporting solutions to executive teams.
Requirements & Technical Toolkit
Professional Experience
5+ years of hands‑on experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or Senior Power BI Development building enterprise‑scale solutions.
3+ years of direct experience hands‑on within the Microsoft Azure Data Ecosystem.
Track record supporting executive‑level reporting and operating inside an Agile/Scrum framework.
Core Technical Stack
Microsoft Azure Stack: Hands‑on experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2), Azure Data Factory (ADF), and exposure to Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Direct Lake mode).
Data Warehousing & Advanced SQL: Expert‑level mastery of SQL (CTEs, Window Functions, Stored Procedures, Views, Query Optimization) and Star Schema/Dimensional Modeling architecture.
Power BI Ecosystem: Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Dataflows, Enterprise Semantic Models, and Power BI Administration.
Developer Tooling & DevOps: Daily fluency with Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, Azure DevOps pipelines, and Git Version Control.
Advanced DAX & Analytics: Calculation Groups, Dynamic Measures, and Complex Time‑Intelligence Patterns.
Security Architecture: Implementation of Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS).
