Senior Data Engineer
Summary
Senior Data Engineer at Byrnecut's Perth office, supporting an on-premises SQL Server data platform that powers Power BI reporting for mine sites worldwide while helping lead the transition to a modern cloud-first lakehouse platform. Daily work spans ETL/ELT pipelines, dimensional modelling, stakeholder collaboration, and mentoring.
We are currently seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Perth Office. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled engineer to maintain and enhance our platform, deliver data-driven solutions that support business performance, and play a key role in our transition from on-premises data warehouses to a modern, cloud-first data platform.
Working closely with operational stakeholders, you will understand business requirements and collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to create trusted, integrated datasets. As a senior member of the team, you'll help establish engineering standards, introduce new patterns and practices, and support the growth of others through mentoring and knowledge sharing. Our existing on-premise SQL Server platform supports Power BI reporting for mine sites distributed globally - you will support daily operations on this, while contributing to our transition to a modern data platform.
We’re looking for somebody who enjoys a technical challenge and can apply their intellect to understanding and solving operational challenges with data. This role provides exposure to a diverse range of operational challenges, including equipment telemetry, machine health monitoring, production, safety, maintenance, and financial reporting. You'll work with data that directly influences operational decision-making for mine sites around the world.
