Summary
Contract Senior Data Engineer role in central Auckland (hybrid) to build AML/CTF data pipelines for a financial-services project starting ASAP. Day-to-day work centres on Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL Server/T-SQL, PySpark and Power BI/Fabric, with AI-assisted development using tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude Code.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- 5+ years' experience building production data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and SQL Server
- Strong ETL/ELT, data modelling, schema design, and query optimisation skills
- Hands-on expertise with ADF orchestration, T-SQL, PySpark, Power BI/Fabric
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, RBAC, and Infrastructure as Code
- Exposure to data migration projects
- Proven use of GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Codex
- Confident using AI tools for SQL generation, pipeline scaffolding, and documentation
- Able to balance AI-assisted and manual development with strong validation practices
- Self-sufficient, iterative and delivery-focused outcome approach.
- Financial Services experience, particularly AML/CTF, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening or regulatory reporting will be highly regarded for this role.
